The first paid-for downloadable content on Microsoft's Xbox Live service has appeared, in the form of a new package for MechAssault which adds new multiplayer content to the game for a $5 fee.

In order to access the content, gamers need to enable Premium Content downloads on their Xbox Live account, and then when they download the Objective Package, $4.99 (�3.63) will be deducted automatically from the credit card they used to sign up to the Live service.
This is the first time that this form of paid-for content has appeared on Xbox Live, but it's unlikely to be the last. Many publishers are keen to experiment with this revenue model, which would see developers continuing to work on content for popular games after their retail release and gamers paying a small amount for each new item of content downloaded.

I dont think i would pay for anything unless it is quite a few game components

like 5 maps or something as there have been plenty of freebies before giving away a fair few

same with racing games, id only pay if it was a little bundle - not like, just 2 cars or something

Dont really know nothing about live, so didnt know they gave away freebies, but suppose your right they are gonna have to make it worth the subscribers while to make them WANT to pay for it.

Yeh well if you play the game loads and they bring more content out for it then I think paying ofr it is fair enough.

Then your fav game wont be like 3 years bewtween versions, just a gradual upgrade process.

i bet this could be cracked, theres nothing to stop you adding data to your HD with backup software and then switching off your mod, unless each download is signed to your liove account or somethin

i think the idea suxx anyway, games are expensive enough without having to pay extra to use certain live elements

you can download them and put them on a memory card if they are individual downloads

I agree with 909.

theres nothing to say the bits we are paying for as extras werent meant to be in the final game....and the twats have left them out deliberately to make extra money out of us.
