Xbox live setup Q

I am with NTL 256k, set top box. I currently use xbox connect to play online with 2 LAN cards via the PC with winroute atm


Can I buy Xbox LIVE and connect via this way too??? I went to theri website and they wanted me to upgrade speed and get router etc


Alos would the speed affect me much. i aint planning to host so shouldnt matter right?

I got an extra nic and run thru the pc fine, using ICS(internet connection sharing). The only drawback from doing this as opposed to connecting direct to ur modem is that ur pc needs to be on.

to allow the x box to connect to the net, I already had a network running, so i just plugged my xbox in my hub. But i have set others up, and to get the xbox online thru ur pc i use ICS. In xp goto network setup and follow the instructions....worked for me

I had mine runnin on ICS but i found that i couldn't do much on my PC without XB lagging, like wen i burned a CD it wud lag the shit outta me, also doin things like defrags and AV scans and bolox, may just be my crap pc tho

i aint that bothered as i won't be using the pc at the same time. i think it lags like shit for every1 ne way!!!

my connection is very slow too and im on 2048k

although my network cable is vry big, does this made a big difference

e.g. would a 10metre cable give me better speeds compared to the 25 now

25 meter cable should be fine as the limit is 100+meters at least.

right, i think the cable might be a bit bugered now then, its got a fair few kinks in it that wont straighten out
ill get a better quality one

test the cable by ftping to and from your xbox and see what speeds you get - if there slow as shit then the cable is fooked.
