CHRISTMAS party revellers pulling crackers were shocked to find notes inside calling them “fat b*****ds”.
Pranksters had removed the usual jokes in the crackers and replaced them with foul insults written in ballpoint pen.
The sick stunt ruined a festive do being enjoyed by 40 council staff at posh Hunwith Hill Hotel in Cockermouth, Cumbria.
A woman in her 50s was one of several workers who pulled out a note telling her: “You’re a fat b*****d.”
Another message read: “You’ve not won anything so f*** off.”
And a third mocked the sex lives of the recipients’ mothers. One of the Workington council workers said: “It put the mockers on the whole night. The abuse was beyond the pale.
“We’d had a lovely meal and everyone was looking forward to reading the lame jokes in the crackers. All we got were handwritten slips of paper calling us fat b’s.”
The seething partygoers complained to the hotel, which put them in touch with the firm which supplied the crackers — Thompson Medd, of Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
A spokesman for the company promised an investigation.
