    Default K&N Filter

Is it neccesary to inform my insurer if i fit a replacement air filter? I have bought a K&N high-flow filter for my Vectra V6, and just wondering where i stand as i dont want any excuses for them to increase the premium.

    Cheers guys,

Yes m8, if you change ANYTHING for something which is non-standard and dont tell them you insurance is no longer valid.

most sports air filters likethe K&N give extra BHP, so hence modifying the performance from standard, hence it would probably be wise to tell ya insurance, but thats up to you.

Personaly m8 i wouldnt have bothered either, but then i was only legally insured for about 2 months of the 3 years i spent driving and i ended up on a two and a half year ban. :|

But he wanted to know if he has a legal obligation to tell them and he does, if he has a crash and they do a proper check on his car then they will not pay out and he will be banned for driving without insurance.

Is it worth it for the sake of a few quid extra? :nowords:
