slow speed in nero

i have just built a new pc
spec:
athlon 2500xp
512 meg ram
120 gig hdd
52xcd-rw
problem is when i do a speed test in nero it says i can only burn at 16x...that's not right is it???i am using mp3s on my hdd and putting them on cd-r so it aint got nothing to do with my cd-rom.

do the cd-rs support the fast speed?
raptor sells plenty of cdrs on his neo website so you can get them cheap there


is the hdd 7200+?
you could also try writing data since it might be the conversion from mp3>>audio cd that is causing the problem (although on a 2500xp i think that is highly unlikely)

mabye try some other cd burning software like clonecd or cdrwin?

is windows detecting your drives speed? the name windows displays for the drive in the device manager doesnt mean much but it does usually reflect the driver that windows is using. can you download new drivers from the manufacturers website?

are you sure the cd writer can write at 52X and that the spec is not referreing to read speed? my old cd writer coudl only write at 12x and i assume the first ones wrote at 1x so that certainly isnt impossible.

try different, and better CDs to burn on.

and really 16x is fast enough, so what if it takes 5mins longer to burn.
