it might still work yet... try right clicking your red alert icon, clicking properties, click the 'compatability mode' tab, select 'windows 95', click ok then re run the game... if you haven't already.

what error message does it come up with?

if you haven't installed anything since you could delete the folder in program files and then use the system restore to put your pc back to the same configuration before you installed it, removing any crap from the registry. after that reinstall the program and try removing it again.

have you tried that compatibility mode thing? try setting the screen resolution to 800x600 too, it might be a video problem.

system restore is enabled by default so unless you've switched it off it will have made all the necassary backups. system restore automatically backups up your system every so often. it also backs it up after any system change like installing software. just restore the backup that was taken before you installed the red alert.

there's a little calendar thing detailing what backups were done when and for what reason. you should be able to work out which one you need to restore.
