    Default windows xp and me

    not sure if this is the right forum but here goes..i have a abit kv7motherboard,256ddr2700 ram,48 speed sony writer,120gig hdd(7200)athlon xp2600 processor,,the question is when i format my hdd and install windows me i can burn at very fast speed's(48x no problem)but when i format the hdd and install windows xp it can only burn at 16x.how i know this is if i do a speed test in nero it tells me i can only write at 16x but in windows me it says i can write approx 70x,come on guys help us out,it has got to be somthing between the two

    I think you need to update the aspi drivers in XP

    also check on sony's site for a firmware upgrade

    not sure if these are the right answers, but it is where I would start

    x52 is the fastest possible speed so win me saying x70 is garbage mate.

    my x48 sony drive works fine with the nero aspi. Wouldn't hurt to install the adaptec aspi drivers though. pm me if you need em.
