Net ID & Freq??

I was just wondering why does it matter what net id you use aslong as u got the correct freq and use a net id for your for your provider i.e nthell or telepest???

i know this maybe a stupid question but it just had me thinking....

??? maybe there area specific?? if your net id is not right you wont get any tv.

well yeah i see what your saying but the only reason i was asking is im in manchester ex c&w and did the wembley trick, now i could have left my net id to wembley appart from the fact that there are some channels missing so could there be any advantages to using a different net id like extra channels??

i suppose one advantage/disadvantage could be regional news for example if you live in london and want to watch northwest tonight..... if thats how it works?
