    Default speakers

i have a set of soundworks 4.1 speakers up until last week all four speakers were working now the ones on the right hand side aren't the 2 on the left and the subwoofer work, when i switch the leads the speakers work, u reckon one of the ports on the soundcard is dead?? or do u think that sound card might need re-installing...............

    Hi

first thing to try is look at the software installed by the soundcard and make sure it is still set to 4.1.

The software might have a sound test option that is worth trying.

Also try unplugging and reinserting the 3.5 jack into the soundcarda few times. might just be a dodgy connection.

If you have a personal stereo/cd player, connect the speakers to that. if the sound comes out of all speakers then it eliminates the speakers as being faulty.

It is always worth reinstalling drivers as you have no idea what other software may have been messing with the settings.

Do you play them really loud? If so maybe a transister fault or other hardware fault?
