    Default Video Card Advice

    Hi guys,
I need some advice if you will. A while back I bought myself a spangly new video card. It was a Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4200 64Mb - it cost almost 150 quid at the time I think. Anyway, it started going wrong a while back so I sent it back to the manufacturers. Anyway, on the way it went missing in the post and because the monkey I sent to post it only insured it for £30 I am a bit out of pocket now and have no graphics card.

This card was fine for all the games that I chucked at it (latest stuff too), so I need something about the same. I'm a bit short of readies at the moment so I need to get the cheapest card that's about as good as this one - oh and it needs TV out too. I've seen a Creative Labs GeForce FX5200 64Mb + TVOut for 53 quid and a Radeon 9200SE for about the same but I don't know how these chipsets compares to the old Ti chipsets. Can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest a decent card to get?

For info purposes, my CPU is an Athlon XP2600 and i have 512Mb Ram.

    Cheers guys

The GF4 4200 was a great card for the price and Nvidias cheaper offering are not any better than your old card was. A 5200 will be about as good as a 4200 was. The nearest comparision to buying a 4200 now is either a Nvidia 5700 or a ATI 9600. I prefer the 9600 personally but both are over a £100

    Cheers Ironman,
I guess I got lucky though. Gainward told me that my card had not arrived at their office. But just mere hours after my original posting yesterday, a spangly new GeForce 4 Ti4200 was delivered to my houe from Gainward.

Either they mixed something up at their end and HAD received my card, or they decided to replace it anyway out of the goodness of their hearts. Actually, I guess that they must have found my original parcel or else they would not have had my address. It took them 4 weeks to replace it but it was over Christmas and at least I've saved 100 quid now.

Thanks for the help anyway mate
