Probably memory. With 256meg mine chugs. 512 and it's sweet as a nut Also try toning down the FSAA - I find anything above 2x can cause grief with some releases

mmm im on 4.2 you think that's the problem?

4.2 ?? There not the ATI catayst drivers then as they only go up to 3.10.........Just a minute.......checked the website 4.2 christ !!!! I only downloaded these a few months a it must have changed a couple of times - what happened to 4 and 4.1 I totally missed them !!!

Anyway I am using 3.10 not 3.9 , maybe its a factor I dont know.

I run 9800(np) at 1280x1024 using 4xaf and 2xaa without any slowdown or issues in combat at all. running latest omega drivers (4.2 cat based), no overclocking at all, XP SP1.

Done the demo and this game is going to be fantastic, anyone seen the movies on there site http://www.farcry-thegame.com the crytek engine one looks soooooo impressive hope you get the map editor with the game...

I think I figured it, possibly need more RAM

1gb would help me max out everything without such a low framerate

ok after so long I made a discovery - when the game stutters a tiny image of a floppy disc is in the right top screen of my game
it means im using my pagefile or something so i need more ram

are you guys using the very high or high settings for everything because i got told on the far cry forums i need 700mb ram or over to use that...

Its the RAM guys. before I upgraded to 1GB I had to run on minimum everything (except resolution) in order to get it to stop swapping constanty. On max it uses over 700MB of RAM when running @ full tilt...I upgraded to 1GB, doubled the FPS, loading times dropped by 90% and the detail is now stunning...

Yep I run on full detail but have 1GB RAM and have disabled virtual memory in windows

ok since i found the problem, is there anywhere i can get some good DDR a 512mb stick ?

Don't want to break the bank but quality is obviously the way to go as I dont want dodgy ram... recommendations?

weird thats exactly who i use aswell, you choose the make and model of your board, then they gaurentee 100% that the memory will work with your board or your money back, ive known loads of people to have trouble with pc and it ended up being mismatched memory.
