    Default Car Shudders

My car seems to shudder during acceleration. It appears to be more of a problem the more I press on the gas. Its a 1.6i Zetec Escort. If I control the amount I press the gas its OK, but as soon as a press it down over a certain amount it shudders, even more so when I'm trying to get up hills.

    Any suggestions?

It could be a timing problem as the engine is placed under strain. You could be getting misfires ie one of the cylinders is not firing at the correct time. Does it sound different when just revvin you engine? (Probably sounds normal)
Do you get any pinking noise from the engine during hard acceleration.
Have you checked your spark plugs? look at the colour (shouldnt be oil black or corroded)
Try changing you spark plug leads.

Yes, the jerking is proportional to how hard I push down the accelerator, if i accelerate lightly the jerking is much less of a problem. I will have a look at the spark plugs as soon as I find our how to. LOL
