Default European Alternative To SKY ???

Currently subscribe to SKY on the Movie world package.

My main watched stuff is kids channels (Not me personally), Music channels, MTV, MTV2 e.t.c and the Movies.

Is there an alternative to Sky without losing out on my above viewing.. Obviously need the soundtracks in English but other than that I just find the quality important (picture/sound) , yes I know sky is crap at that.

know nothing about european alternatives and the sites I have looked at dont detail enough what exactly which providers show and whether in english e.t.c

    Thanks for any advice.

A whole lot of stuff is in English, the discovery channels are about all over europe usually in english with subtitles. have a look here
http://www.guernsey.net/%7Ehammer/index.htm..most things in English 'and free with the right kit'
    or here:

Most of the european stuff is switching encryption so theres not much left there..but if you point a dish at 30deg West theres a load of stuff over there still available

I would be very reluctant to advise anyone to spend a lot of cash to convert at the moment.
TPS on hotbird will be lost in Feb. Viasat going in next few weeks and rumours that nagra package on 30 deg west going in April.
You can't get Discovery or Disney in English now and in a few weeks you will be lucky to get anything worthwhile.
Sorry to sound so dismal, been in this game for a few years now like D2mac days.
Presently Humax 5400 patched 3.2, Emulatorek 10a etc.
But that is the name of the game. Lots of fun for the enthusiast.

    P.S.
Lots of exitement on Forums at the moment, looks as though key 21 has been found to get Conax at 1deg. west back.
This gives ppv. films and the lot back in English.
See what I mean, you win some and lose some.
    What a hobby!!

Sounds to me that Murdoch has a monopoly here which is one of my main objections to subscribing.

You can get a fair amount of the channels you get with sky through cable which is only available in some areas.
