    Default BB and security?

I was told by my isp that if my OS is windows xp i don't need a firewall because the built in one is good enough, so does this mean i'm running zone alarm for nothing then?

    cheers

Certainly not. I would not trust XP's firewall on it's own anyway, it's sh1t. I used to always have 2 software firewalls, Zone Alarm Pro & McAfee's firewall.

The best option in my opinion, as I have, is a hardware firewall. But if a hardware firewall isn't practical for you, you can stick with ZA and maybe another one.

once you've added a firewall give it a test at : http://grc.com/ then goto "shields up" and it will scan your ports and tell you how good your firewall is.

well i ran that firewall test(above) and with ZA it's rock solid, so i reckon i'll leave it at that.
