check ebay out, plenty of wired gps units about. shouldnt cost you more than £60. simply load up tom tom, attach the gps unit, configure the gps settings and away you go

I've got a sys on chip CF GPS device... it cost me £90 from eBay and it's the bollox !!
draws power from the ipaq but battery life is still good with it active.

works great with both tom tom & destinator

Nice. I'll take a search about doods. Is it true that the UK maps are only like 100 meg or so?

yep m8ty u need to download the checkpoint v 3.2 and then download the latest poi overlay maps http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php
    ITS AWSOME M8TY
the lil vioce says "" whoo whoo (noise of siren) speed camera approaching 30 second's"" its enough to send a shiver down my neck and then it will say same thing with 10 seconds (if u set it up nicely) if u drive a lot this thing is unbeatable , i mean u can pay big bucks for the cyclops system, and with this your getting gps navigation and speed trap info , santa must be workin overtime :thumbs

Tam, I picked up a CF GPS card with extra aerial and a PCMCIA adapter on Ebay recently for £50 inc vat and delivery. Watch out as when I was looking to buy a lot of the sellers bid on their own items so they magically jump up to near on the same price as the auction end nears. The one I dealt with (Techworldsg) didn't do that (or if he did it was a lot lower than the others)

u dont neccesarily need to have cf card , i mean i would have thought the one with the cord would be a better proposition as u can the put the pda any where , the other sort u need to have them infront windscreen

Totally agree with Rudey. I use a corded one and you can then put your pda in a more convenient and discreet position.

anyone know where I might "attain" the US maps for tomtom, I'm going there for two weeks in May, and don't really want to have to purchase them for £100 odd quid.
