Asus A7N8X v2.0 Deluxe Rev 1007

After hours of trying, pondering, screaming and using up the time of a good friend who knows about this stuff, we can't get the thing to work.

When I power on my system the board hangs and won't recognise IDE devices. I had to clear the CMOS and start again to get round this problem.

Apart from this the system runs great.

Can anyone help???

I take it you can boot to windows, are the devices recognised in there?

The board is booting to quick for your ide devices to start up.

you might be able to add a boot up delay in the BIOS.

Ok i've got the Asus A7N8X-X which isn't that different to yours. Have a look in the BIOS for a quick boot which skips the memory CPU test etc. which may bypass your problem. Make sure this is enabled. The only other thing I can think of is you might have muddled ATA100/133 up which leads on from what oE was saying. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the replays but still cant get it to work.

90% of the time the system boots up with no problems.

So I Contacted Asus support and they asked the following.

"have you installed your drivers?" I have install all the system drivers that came with the Motherboard

"Do you have an HDD sharing with a CD-ROM/DVD device?" I have taken both my CDR-W and CD-ROM drive from the system it works for a few days then started freezing at Detecting IDE devices (Same as before!) and the only way round this is to clear the CMOS.


"nothing underneath the board shorting against the IDE sockets?" I have taken out the Board to check but can't find anything that would affect this.

But they suggest getting the board checked my your retailer!

I'd take the board to your retailer if they feel the problem is bad enough they should hcnagethe board if they have no luck fixing.
