    Xbox on my TFT monitor

    Hi all

I wanna get my Xbox playing thru my TFT so I thought I'd get a proper XGA box so I can get some high res gaming action on my TFT

    Got the box
    XGA / TFT Convertor

but when I plug it in to the monitor the monitor turns itself off and on like it can't cope with the res. occasionally I get a picture thats either black and white or sometimes in colour, but then when I choose a menu option the monitor goes to off again
    Pain in the ar**!

The monitor is a 19" Samsung Syncmaster 191T so it's not a cheap jobbie.

Have I bought the wrong convertor or expecting too much from my monitor / xbox?

are there any settings on the xbox I should be looking at?

    Cheers for any help

    S

your tft will have a native resolution and on a 19" thats probably about 1280x1024+. And you can usually use resolution or two bellow that like 1024x768.

TV res is like 752x582 and your tft cant support it becuase its too low. plug in a crt and it would probably work. So unless you can get the xbox to display in a higher res you wont be able to use it

ah cool sounds plausable, hadn't thought of thatt, cheers!

Should be getting my chip this week so I'll try it when I got access to the higher res's unless I can do it on an unmodified one ?

you cant change the resolution on your xbox , apart from between pal and ntsc, and even then i dont think it'll work.

Well the instruction manual is brief to say the least!

The only reference to Output has the following:
    - VGA OUT
    - Single Scan rate output up to 65Hz

The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 191T

    1,280 x 1,024 native resolution, 0.294 mm dot pitch
    Analog and digital DVI-D inputs
750:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits brightness
    170 degree viewing angles

I thought TFTs didn't "really" have refresh rates but anyway it does upto 75Hz at 1280 x 1024 as thats what I run it at
