Default warning: prepare scepticism senses before reading this

Ok guys sit down...make sure your like....not holding any sharp objects. The chances of this even being true at all...is a very very very vague chance. What I am about to type could be a COMPLETE RUMOUR. However since it was posted at a website that COULD be telling the truth...I atleast had to make a post about it out of sheer jubilation and excitement. HOWEVER we have to wait and see wether it is true. So...what is this 'it' I am speaking of? Well read this:

    gamingnews.com.hk wrote
1/31/2004: A news source reported that Sega will re-release the SEGA Dreamcast. Customers can visit the segadirect web site to pre-order it starting on 4th, Feb. The re-release date will be on 24th, Feb. The retail price will be 13,482yen.

We'l l just have to wait and see, yea i know its a lot to take in....but I am still sceptical. But still letting the fantastic idea excite me a little non-the less.

ok I have looked on the Sega Japan website, and there is nothing there stating the re-release of the Dreamcast.... however, The amount of support that Sega still give to the dreamcast on their Japanese website is unbelievable!!! They are still releasing games for it! SonicTeam has one coming up! Hummmmm there might be a shred of truth to this. Every game shop you go to in Japan, there is a vast selection of Dreamcast Games... They love it.

I heard a rumour that SEGA were releasing a brand new console a while back. This would be interestin as they still make the best Coin-ops imo and these conversions on a new console would be unbelievable!. Still, if DC is re-released, then they (SEGA & SAMMY) must support it and this should mean the release of new Coin-op conversion. Great news!!

I think they would release the machine really for the back-catalog rather than anything brand spanking new... You wont see GTA Vice on it thats for sure.

Thats right, but the DC was easy to port to from the SEGA Coin-ops and i know that SEGA & SAMMY are still releasing new Coin-ops so it is a strong possibility if this really does happen

HoHoHo.... 98 was too late it was actually 1996, But surprisingly enough it was also released in America in 97 (October) Oh and here is a picture for you... not very big, But it does come Nintendo's official website... they still support the little bugger too ^____^ hahahaha I love Nintendo and Sega!

    Facts:
-It does appear to be a refurbishment program, brought on by the demand of customers for the re-sale of the Dreamcast (they love it, they really love it!)
-Customers will send their DCs in, to have them repaired by Sega (uh...). The usual "only one per person, per household" type deal is in place.
-It looks as though they're trying to keep it inside Japan, which stinks for us but makes sense since they're the ones that supported it the most, I think.
-It also looks as though they will be doing this until March 2006. I wonder how many spare parts they have left over...
-They make it clear that customers will not receive a brand-new DC in return for their used, broken system. Of course.

So much for the re-release! I'd buy one and send it in, but... I'd have to locate and purchase an NTSC-J model, have it shipped to me, ship it to someone that can order from SegaDirect, pay for the whole thing, and have it shipped back... only to have a refurbished (but nicely-refurbished) system that probably won't let me play "homebrew"-anything. I am still blindly hoping for a PPF LE DC.
