is my phone barred from the network?

oright

ive got an 8310 given to me by my sister

now i got it without a sim card in it so put my own vodafone payg sim in it

now i can send/receive sms's but cannot get incoming/outgoing calls??

try to make a call and it just beeps twice (as it does)

any ideas, is this blocked on the network (can still txt tho)

or is it just fu*ked??

Yes m8 it is the IMEI number that is barred, and no it is not reversible m8.

i got a 7210 like this... was working fine... sold it, bloke came back and said he cant make calls...

u fink that the sms would be barred aswell wouldnt ya, how come it aint???

havent got a clue matey... its always been that way, I have had hundreds of barred handsets and everyone of them are the same.

Maybe this, before they started barring handsets they would only bar the sim... now people put new sims in and carried on using the handsets, thus making billions of pounds a year for the service providers. Now handsets are barred through the imei and cannot make calls so the networks have lost billions in revenue... maybe keeping the text on helps them recoup some of that lost revenue... unless u using your genie sims with free text on em.
