I bought the original remote... the RM-X4S, won't it do ?
(in the sony website they recommend the RM-X4S (original remote) and the RM-X93).
but Thank you very much for the codes :thumbs

edit: i just saw a review about remotes, and i think RM-X96 and RM-X4S are compatible so... i just have to try with the remote (i can't do it now because it's coming by mail, it had to be imported )

the rm-x4 is for volume and a few other controls but it will not work for entering the codes you will need the rm-x 96 for entering them into the cd player.

apart from the other two i think there's one more but i'm not to sure if it will work which is a rm-x95 this is for a cdx-m700 which is exactly the same with a few extras.

ive just had a thought try looking on ebay for a remote

I have just read the above and i also have a sony cdx-m610. i was also lead to believe that the rmx 4s would work for entering the code. But i've been waiting for two weeks for it to arrive. So after reading the above i decided to open up the remote that i was given (rm x118) it looks similar to the rm x96 and works with the 610. the only differance being no open and close button, which is essential if you are to use the code given by electricky(thanks by the way). On opening the remote you will find a hidden button just were the open and close button should be, short this out every time you need to press the open and close and hey presto you've got it. Oh don't forget to press the reset button on the front before you start and i only needed the first two lines of electricky's code. i hope this helps

hi there its me again :-)

if you you would like to discontinue using the code here are directions

    remove mounting bracket
    turn unit upside down
look near the front of the unit and there will be a little square hole look in the hole there should be three solder points

just join each solder point together with a soldering iron to remove the code= code free

Hi, someone told me that too, but i was afraid of ruining the radio, so instead of solder, i used a piece of copper and it didn't work.. i don't know if it really has to be solder..
    Thanks anyway
