Default Problem using Nokia 3510i data cable

I recently got a data cable for my Nokia 3510i, I downloaded the trail version of Oxygen Phone Manager, I checked that everything is connected, and Ive connected it into COM Port 1, but when I load the program up, it won't recognize that the phone is connected, now ive been on the Oxygen forums, but they said that it may have something to do with my motherboard. I'm running XP Pro, I have no other progs using the COM Ports, anyone else having this trouble?

Ive also read somewhere it has something to do with an IRQ number?, surely it can't be my motherboard stopping it from recognizing because I have a 3210 data cable, and I tested that with my old phone and my computer was able to detect it

It's a COM port cable mate, I haven't got the infa red one. Ahh well, looks like I'll have to get a refund on the cable

OK same thing here but with a 5510

I have to connect the cable to the phone first NOT the PC, then you turn the phone on, THEN you connect the cable to the PC

You might also have to have the phone powered off the recharger when you do this.

Its not the cables its the actual phones that dont like them being connected!!

OK the other thing I did and I was loathe to do this incase I had to send it back ... was to remove parts of the little foam surround on the pins, I assumes I was having a connection problems and when i took off the whole foam I could at least enter my startup code, it then powered off, so I have cut the foam into 4 bits and have tried each one in turn, I now have a situation where I can power up the phone, start LM or Oxygen and get into the phone, BUT at points unaffected by any movement.... it powers off !!!

I am well :censored off with this, but its clear its NOT the cables that are at fault, it is the way the phone is reacting, so you may find that the cable suppliers are not interested because of this, mine are helpfull but as it works on all the others and just not the 5510 then its......... :nowords:

    Hi
The foam is just to protect the pins.
    I allways remove the foam.
Also check all the pin lengths are the same as you might have pushed one back and its not making contact.
