Best thing to do is try taking your machine over to his place, or vice versa, and then try his monitor on your setup and your computer on his machine - that way you'll get a better idea of which end has gone.

Has his monitor got a molded cable? If not could even be that the cable is knackered

blue is probably one of the colours in the red-green-blue(RGB) graphics connector that monitors use (of course i am just guessing - knowing the people that come up with these acronyms it probably isnt)

so if the blue cable inside the actual cable was touching the earth, or if another cable was shorting or something and making it display a certain colour all over screen then cable could well be prob, so make sure you check that if poss. before assuming monitor is broken

cant say much more until we know what is broken

I found that the graphics card was not in properly on my mates computer thats why nothing was coming onto the screen, but he has bad sectors on his hard drive, so he got another hard drive, but when booting from the cd it only goes so far as the blue screen, where it comes up with press f6 for raid and third party, or press f2 for system recovery which then prompts me for a disk. And after that just keeps on a blue screen, all of the connections are all connected right in the system, and i have run outta ideas :-(

Go into the BIOS and monitor the computer temperatures for a minute or so, should be below about 55'C. There could be a problem with the Heatsink and Fan causing your CPU to overhead which would probably explain crashing. Is the HDD recognised in the BIOS as it's correct size etc. Apart from that, sounds fishy. Never known any crashing at that stage of the installation.

    Good Luck,

install windows from scratch on a new hard drive bus as in the above post he can only get so far then it just stops on the blue setup screen. It either Auto system recovery or RAID 3rd party, then after theset two options appear at the bottom of the screen nothing else happens.

    cheers
