dvd drives running slow...please help

Just got a old tiny 1ghz with 256 of pc 133 ram & cannot get it to pull a dvdr to the harddrive any faster than 2.2x. I have a liteon dvdrom & pioneer 106. Dma is enabled on all the drives but still no joy. Taking ages to burn also with all media.

Tried removing ide channels & rebooting & changing jumpers on the drives.

anyone help solve this dilema as running out of ideas.

Have u made sure all you motheboard IDE drivers are installed? :nowords:

Installed the via drivers with no joy.

Any other suggestions.

is anything else running on computer at same time , internet , ant-virus, screen saver etc . are aspi layers installed (not sure what they do ) . do you have any packet writing s/w installed , if so try un-installing this

Just finished doing a complete re install of win xp & seems to have solved the problems.
