Have you guys heard of Sophos Antivirus? it's ment to also be quite good
ye da virusus with **** da pc man
i sometimes use AVG but tbh if you don't do anything stupid then you wont get viruses anyway
I use AVG and have for about two years no prob get the odd virus trying to get in but AVG picks it up! Also its free!!lol
Rallying .... Because Football, Cricket and Golf only requires one ball.
Definately AVG! I used norton antivirus for about 2 years and generally found it to slow down my computer loads.
Then I discovered AVG and it does a great job. Low on resources, regularly updated virus definitions, simple to use and covers much more than norton in a shorter space of time. Have we said that it was free too?

AVG is gud but i would also use ad-awear6 and spy bot directery as they help stop pop ups that the google blockers misses

what you have to remember it depends on what sites you go if you could get viruses.if you use kazza, then your in for a world of hurt.its got more viruses going round than the music.just be careful, scan your computer regular and you should be ok.i run norton and avg,no problems.i find norton can miss viruses when its in a PAK file.thats why i run 2.hope this helps
Well everyone as an opinion on there fav software. Over the years I have tried and tested quite a few and put Nortons at the bottom of the list. Now if you are looking for free software with free updates, then you cant go wrong with AVG.
Its free, catches quite a good number of baddies were other virus software miss.
Now if you want to pay for software, then have a pook at PC-cillin not bad at all.
Laters
F-Secure for me. had no probs with it
i use the free version of AVG and its been very good.i think the site is down because i cannot get virus updates.worked ok for about 4 months then wont connect anymore.
I got an update yesterday from AVG, but it downloaded quite strangely. If you click it and it appears not to be doing anything, just give it 30 seconds or so, and it will suddenly burst in to a flurry of activity...
ive given norton loads of chances and every time i install any norton software it ****s something up.. every time. so i now use F-secure and it is much much less invasive than norton and doesnt take over everything, sits there in silence and does what it says on the tin.
use agnitum outpost as firewall now too.
facking symantec shite.. never again.
I guess computers just do that at times...I got an update yesterday from AVG, but it downloaded quite strangely. If you click it and it appears not to be doing anything, just give it 30 seconds or so, and it will suddenly burst in to a flurry of activity...
i'd have to agree with norton being shit - tons of folk i know use it and have probs with it
"The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it." - John Gilmore
im using norton and having no probs.
That's because you are all using the SHIT homeuser version of nortons!!
Grab a copy of Nortons AV Corporate Edition 8.1 (£200+), this is the AV that a lot of the Big IT company’s in London use.
The best thing for me is that it can be configured so that it ONLY scans on create, what this means is unlike most other AV software it will ONLY scan NEW files into your system and not EVERY file that you so much as even look at!! This obviously reduces the amount of system resources it use's drastically as it's not always scanning files that are clean and programs EVERY time you run them.
Set-up
1. Install Nortons 8.1 AV & do Live update. (Repeat Live-Update to confirm 100% that Virus Defs are bang up-to-date)
2. Do FULL system scan to confirm system is 100% clean
3. Configure File System Realtime Protection too: 'Modified' (Scan on create)
4. Configure Schedule Updates to 'DAILY' (If you have more than 1 PC on your network stagger the daily update times to further improve AV protection)
**NOTE**
Having the AV configured like this DOES NOT scan files copied/viewed over a LAN, so you have to make sure ALL the PC's on your network are clean

P.S) Have been using Corporate Edition for well over 2 years on about half a dozen PC's and have never had a virus :thumbs
