Guys has no one ever managed to come up with an adapter that can just sit on top of the chip, so we don't have to remove it from the board. Surely someone out there must be able to come up up with such a device.

its not possible m8
cos the atmels whilst in situe, are connected up to eachother, so if you adapted one to your progger, it would surely power up other parts of the board and you would get funny readings, so its not possible.
