Default Rover Metro Alarm Immobiliser Fault

The girlfriends car, metro, has developed a fault possibly the keyfob where the central locking doesnt work, the alarm and immobiliser are not deactivated. they want about £100 for a new keyfob. Is there a way to disable the immobiliser and alarm so she can just use the key like the good old days?
Any help appreciated, the keyfob will be worth more than the car else.

Pull out the glove box by removing the two screws that hold it in

now put you hand up above the glove box into the dash you will find a small box app 5 inch square....just pull out the multi plug and that will disable the alarm so the car can be started as norm...

any other info mail me direct

    hope this is of help

I may be stating the obvious so I appologies for insulting your intelligence...

Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob?

Alternatively, press the key fob 20 or more times close to the car. Some fobs have a rolling encryption code and your code might have been mis-alligned.

This is for the clown who said that every rover metro will be stolen now I give out how to kill the alarm...

as most are aware car thiefs know how to kill most alarms in most cars and I dont think rover metros is at the top of their list of sporty hatch backs

so wise up if you dont have any info to help this man in need just dont bother taking time to add crap and making silly replys

    Cheers

pangr, yes changed the battery and resoldered some bad joints in the keyfob, tried allsorts of methods to synchronise back to the car, no luck at all.
As for every car thief in the country wanting to nick Metro's now yaesuft3000 has provided some real useful info, If they want to come and practice on the girlfriends car theyre more than welcome, we dont want it back though :thumbs

At the end of the day yaesuft you gave valid info on how to help the bloke , this is a forum for sharing knowledge after all. If the subject was taboo then it would have been picked upon. Good work m8 , good info.

Well it worked to a point, but the immobiliser seems to be active still, any ideas??
Going to have a look in the box the connector went to and see if I can figure out what does what.
Thanx for the help so far.

I removed the multiplug which certainly killed the alarm and the central locking with the key but the car wouldnt start, seems the immobiliser is still active, it seems at least one of the outputs from the box must need to be closed for the immobiliser to be disabled. when i get chance i'll try and figure out what does what and hopefully kill the alarm and immobiliser and keep the central locking. A wiring diagram might help, must pop into halfords and see what the Haynes manual gives me.
Thanx for the help so far. at least I know its all to do with that box now.
