    Default Keyboard delay??

Well Im stuck on this one.

Packard Bell PC changed keyboards and its the same.

    Problem:

When I try to type anything regardless of what program I use its slow and takes ages to produce a letter on screen regardless of what program I use words etc.

It looks like there is a delay set but checked everywere and ran a virus check and all is fine. If I keep my finger on a key it prints not like aaaaaa but a (then a pause) a (then a pause) its slow as hell.

If I drop into safe mode it works as normal?

    HELP!

I presume you've gone into Control panel, Keyboard and adjusted the repeat rate??

safe mode starts windows without drivers (or at least unnessesary drivers)

try going into your hardware device manager thingie and uninstalling keyboard, then reboot and it will(should) come back and work again

Naaaa the keyboard works if you keep your finger on a key for long enough, but there is a very long delay.

Will try deleting the keyboard and have a go that way.

You haven't got that stupid language "tool bar" thing running in winxp have you - I've seen this screw around with keyboard reactions?

Well I just found out what the problem was. There was a little icon on the bottom right of the screen and I looked in the setings for this icon and it had a box ticked called filter keys.

I unticked this and all is now as it should be

    Thanks guys.
