Ford Escort Van p reg side lights

Can somebody help not only have I got a problem with an airbag light but also when stalk switch from steering wheel in the side light position nothing happens no lights come on, when in normal light mode everything is fine and when switch to full beam lights,go to full beam but all dash and dial lights go out apart from the blue full beam light, I have checked fuses and all are ok apart from somebody has wrapped a wire around fuse no 8 and when removed the tail lights go out this whole problem is confusing me because I am completely new to this vehicle

I have had to fit a few switches to Escorts for that reason,if you buy a new one dont forget to swap over the flasher relay(its plugged into switch)
Airbag lights on Fords flash,if you count the flashes and tell us it might help diagnose your fault
