Is this disc a 2nd drive or the main drive? The problem is you must of fdisked the drive wrong and not told it to use large disk support.
it is my 2nd disk m8
how do i set it up in fdisk dude

Fdisk is what puts the partitions on a drive. Start you computer with a boot disk and at the c prompt type:
a:\fdisk
You will see a list of options (be carefull) Press 4 and see what partitions are already created. To be on the safe side I would disconnect your C drive so you know what ever you do the main drive is safe.
Follow the instructions in one of the links above and you will soon get the hang of it.
Laters
the drive dont show up in fdisk
It could be that your systemboard in your pc is restricted to 30gb hdrives this is why some drives offer a jumper for clipping the drive so bios can detect it correctly check to see if this jumper is on? :nowords:
If it is it will limit drive to 30gb
If your systemboard supports large drives then remove this jumper to remove restrictions
i have got a 80 gig in as the main disk drive
Is the drive set via its jumper a master or a slave.
are there any partitions in the h/d..
is it new?
the 2nd HD is a slave and the HDD is new
why not take the new h/d.
install just that drive. install windows 98. then restart in dos and fdisk the drive from there.
use the largest volume when in f/disk.
then when its done that format the h/d.
put back ur old h/d,add the new one as a slave, that should get u the full gigs back.
if not u might have been sold the wrong h/d..
hmm shit, but i was tould if you dont fdisk the defalt seting is what i am getting.
but the disk will not show up in fdisk but in windows it is there
hi
are u useing windows xp?
if so put win 98 on the h/d then fdisk from there...
only the new h/d..
xp does not support dos..
not got a copy of win 98 :-(
check ur pm
download a windows 98 boot disk and see if one has fdisk on it.
the drive dont show up in fdisk, but it shows up in windows
so , if you get a new HD how do you go about partitioning and formatting the HD in XP ?
