    Ati or Nvidia

Ok keeping it simple, fancy a new graphics card heres my options,

    1.XFX GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256MB DDR VIVO/DVI
    2.ATI Radeon 9800XT/TVD 256MB
3.Wait a little while for the new cards later this year.

Ive always had nvidia cards in and had no trouble with them, I think the radeons are better performers at the moment but a lot of games seem to have driver issues (dont play properly with a specific driver) as read in some other threads and from friends with these cards in.

P.S. Just for the record my current set up is:-

    P4 2.8Ghz 800fsb in a Asus P4P800
    1Gb Crucial Ram (2x512) running at 2x400Hz
    Geforce 4 Ti4200 (Asus)
Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard running 5.1 speakers

I'm thinking with either card and amazing set-up! I'd probably tend to go for ATI tho or wait awhile and see what comes out, your current card's ok.

I got with ATI as well - my last card was the same as yours - TI 4200 - and I wouldnt have gone for ATI either but I will be sticking with them from now on - I have a 9700 pro and its excellent - go ATI is my advice but either way your syste, will be kicking ass.

    Cheers

Yep I thought that after playing Far Cry, then I realised (even tho it still looks fantastic) all my setting were set to low, I stick em all on high and its even better, fish in the sea birds etc, and about a 2fps. Hmmmm
Bit expensive I know, to see some fish and birds in a game. But what the hell you only live once, (and even if I was reincarnated I dont think I'll still have me bank account when I come back).
You guys had no bother with the radeons then, with any game?

Yes ATI drivers are a bit buggy of late...why spend a lot of money on the top of the range card when they will be out dated in 6 months...go for one of the mid range models like the Nvidia 5900XT best card in its class and not so hard on the wallet
