Try a volcano 9 that will be a good heatsink for your cpu it has 3 functions. It run upto 2600+
1 full speed at 4800 rpm
2 automatic temperature control
3 adjustable fan speed 1300rpm - 4800rpm
the paste what come's with the heatsink will be ok
you can get them on ebay for about £10
try www.thermaltake.com for more jen

I personally like the Coolermaster Aero 7.
It reduced my XP2400 by 15 degrees compaired to the 1 shiped with the CPU

Best move I ever made, With the Aero 7+ my CPU has dropped 10 degrees with my 2600+. I used a Coolermaster Compound Kit for mine, comes with a sticker and an applicator too.

i have just ordered my new cpu heatsink and thermal compound can anyone give me some decent links were it THROURALLY explains how to install the heatsink im have a AMD any personall advice will be appreciated as well thanks. This is the first time i will ever do this so i dont want it going tits up.
I'm guessing your on stock cooling, it's simple really. The heatsink and fan will be attached to your motherboard by a clip, first of all find the side of the heatsink fan which has a small notch for a screwdriver. Insert a screw driver then press down and pull away from the heatsink. If your CPU die (the centre piece) is covered from the thermal pad or paste from the previous heatsink, give it a little clean with alcohol. Place a small amount of thermal compound on the CPU die and spread to cover it if you wish. Fix one side of the new heatsink and fan clip and as before get a screwdriver or use thumb depending on clip and push down and out if necessary to secure the other side of the clip. If I’ve totally lost you here you can check out the videos AMD have for heatsink installation and removal.

thanks makes sence to me but i ordered new thermal paste how will i go about removing the old shit to be honest i dont even think their is thermal paste on it currently another think i heard if you put one side in and then the other it damages the core or is this the way its done do one side then the other.
That's the only way to put it on. The side of the clip without notch on first, sit it nicely on the heatsink, insert screwdriver and pull towards you slightly to even the clip then puch away from you and down to secure the other side, be careful! A jerked movement or a flip and it could be a nice gash out of your motherboard, bad idea if you ask me. If it's a clip then your life got a whole lot easier. I found a clip easier pulling towards you so same as before, secure one side and pull the clip towards you and down so it snaps onto the CPU Socket.
Good Luck,

ok i saw video thanks for the help ill tell you how it goes if i wasnt so cheap and paid for cheapo delivery service on ebuyer now i goto wait a while week bahhhhhh.
since were all talking about this i might as well ask the question which i will ask in 1 week or so.
I have got a 1500+ atholon on a shiti heatsink i have bought
Thermaltake A1725 Volcano 11+ Heat Sink & Fan Supports Upto 3400
+ Antec Silver Thermal Compound Pentium 4 CPU / AMD.
I think my cpu is unlocked, well i think it is, because i am able to control the frequency multiplyer on my mobo its currently at 10.5x i can push this further its running at 1333 how far do you think i can push it with the heatsink and compound i stated.
My case is aluminium globalwin its got side window fan, one fan on back and a psu fan and a hdd fan. if this helps
I'll assume you know that multiplyer X FSB = CPU Speed in MHZ. What you do is nock it up a bit and then run a program such as Prime 95 (http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v238.exe) to stress your CPU and keep an eye on your CPU temperatures with MBM5 (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/download.html) If you've overclocked too much then the computer may not post and if it does Prime 95 will moan about it failing the test, if it does not post just reset it and it should have dropped to a speed it can post at. If your CPU temperatures exceed about 60°C you may have to lower your CPU speed or consider some more cooling. I have a Volcano 11 upstairs in my overclocked TBird system and it performs well, although a little noisey at full speed i'm sure you can find a compromise without letting the CPU temperatures rise too much.
Hope This Helps,

shall i knock up the fsb and multiplyer my ram is pretty shite its crucial 256ddr 2700 its under warrenty for life but i cant missuse the service so if it does blow i wont get pissed of.
I've had a look about and it seems that the highest OC for a 1500+ is Multiplyer 11 FSB 133 which is the speed of the 1700+. If no good up your voltage to 1,75 if it is not already set at that. Give it a try and let us know how you get on.

i was expecting more for my multiplyer but ow well i guess ill mess with voltage.
Because forums were down i couldnt tell you how i got on the heatsink installed like a dream im running my 1500 at a true 1500mhz but i realise my frquency multiplyer is not unlocked is their a easy way of unlocking it i got the palmino one,
i looked on the net and its a complex shit about filling the bridges and sum shit i heard about using a 2H pencil is their an easy intructions on the net with really clear images.
currently i can change my mulitplyer up to 12x but when in windows i use the program to see my multiplyer and it reports it as 10x does this mean its unlocked im currently on 150FSB and 10x multiplyer if i go further with my fsb it will lock up in windows i tried upping the voltage but it dont get into windows at all!.
my standard voltage is 1.75v, i tried 1.77v as this is the next availbable option this ended in not passing dos, :thumbs
any help is apprciated. thanks
