    Default DECT handsets

Sorry if I sound like a noob, not spent much time in here and have a couple of Qs about DECT handsets/base units
Is it possible to listen in on a DECT handset conversation with a scanner of some kind?
Would it be possible to introduce a new DECT handset (or base for that matter) to someone's system without their knowledge?

    Thanks

    Slight drifting of topic,

Can you mix different manufacturers of DECT handsets and still have them on the same group?

    Cheers,

    Crossman.

I had a Philips dect phone, the on/off switch was getting dodgy, I bought a Samsung dect from Toys'R'us (£25), installed that, then added the Philips as a second handset, it works through the Samsung base OK, or as well as it did before (bit of a pain to hang up after a call).

By the way, Toys'R'Us are doing a samsung 'flip-phone' dect, with memories, caller display etc. for £25 atm.

Replies! - I'd given up on this thread lol thanks guys.

I asked on the shack too and they didn't think it was possible with the encryption system and multiple channels they use so could U link me to something suitable pls Conman?

Crossman - yes, DECT is the standard they use so any DECT phone should be able to join a group regardless of manufacturer AFAIK (hence my Q about sneeking 1 onto a system )

as long as the base unit and the phones are gap compatible then you can mix the handsets/baseunits if they arent then they wouldnt work

    cas
