What X-Box Drive?

About to purchase a modified xbox but don't know what option to go for, they are both the same price.

Option 1. Samsung drive with no extras

Option 2. Philips drive with Halo & mm3 + 2 months live subscription

Yes,the samsung's are the best but I must say that the thmpson drive's have been better then the phillips,just hope you don't get the new version of the phillips drive some of them don't even recognise ritek media!

Agree with Sanj, Thompson drives are ok, Philips suck big time, but you gotta go with the Samsung :thumbs

yep samsung all the way m8, i was buzzin when i got my green xbox and saw it had a samsung, it plays totally every disc i have ever put in it, even CDR and even the cheapest crapest cdr i can find it boots them no prob, i even found an old xbox game on cdr, it was scratched to hell and back but still booted first time.

Guys I bought a new box and just installed x2.3b lite plus modchip with the latest bios(x2 4981.06) and it has a samsung drive, now my old xbox(v1.0) got fecked when doing an eeprom change and it has a Thompson drive in it, so when i got my new box rigged up last night I stuck in some of my games and it wouldn't read the games on BulkPak discs. So I stuck in my old Thompson drive and that reads them fine, and they're really cheap discs.

Samsung here as well. Reads all discs - including DVD+R and DVD+RW's. Not had one disc fail yet!!!!

Then you must have a burner that lets you change the bit setting to dvd-r then.

really? I use a sony drive - must do it automatically. Thing is the discs work on my xbox but not on my mates!!!

It definitely writes + discs as im using a few Maxell +RW and a few discs......and my Xbox loves them !!!

You cpuld put any drive you like it it but it wont read originals that`s all>
