Default a hifi home audio/video section

a few people on here have been asking about sound stuff lately, and i'm sure people would do so a lot more if we had a forum for it.

everyone listens to something, whether it is just the built in speakers on the telly and a laptop or a complex home hifi system with everything hooked up for "perfect" sound quality.

    what do you think?

    Examples:
    http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php?t=189345 pc speakers
    http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php?t=187930 plasma TV
    http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php?t=188188 connecting hifi to TV

edit: i just realised that some people might be inclined to reply to those threads after clicking the direct links i gave. please don't reply to the bottom two since they are really far down the dog and duck and we dont want to drag things up. the top one about speakers should be ok since it is still active.

I agree, it would clean up the forums as well and it will be ideal for those who haven't learned what the search button is used for.

But on a serious note excellent idea. :thumbs

I don't mind modding it if it gets the go ahead as the amount of 'leccie' stuff I have is stupid.
And i'm pretty 'genned' up on stuff like that.

Good idea, although I still think that anyone with a question on this ought to pop over to avforums. The guys over there are extremely helpful to both newbie's and more experienced owners, and it is dedicated to the kind of things we're talking about here.

good point, but it is good to keep everytihng "under one roof" and to build on the DF community

a lot of poeple on this board probably have decent hifis at home, either all in one or separates, and most people seem to be up on home cinemas so i think people here would respond well to a forum like that.

    [bullshit]
a lot of people here are between 18-35 type age that have just bought a decent house and a decent car and stuff, hence the car forum, and i just think this would be a good addition to it.

mabye expand the forum to cover all home electrics even? boring things like cookers mabye not but diy alarm systems and the always exciting and expanding world of hoovers? mabye not.
    [/bullshit]

anyway, if people had a really severe problem or a hard question signing up to a new forum might be a good idea, but for folk that just like having the odd dable in it so they can listen to cds i think it is a good idea. 100% of people agree so far...

A more general 'home electrics' section would probably keep it a bit busier.
We had a poll for a 'review' section not long back where peeps would post on electrical stuff etc they had bought and what they thought of it and that seemed popular.

I don't think a 'stand alone' hifi/video section would be that busy, but grouped with other things electrical/reviews etc I think it would make a great addition to the board m8.

i agree with urbs, home electrics would keep it busier, than just sticking to video selection and hi fi. Least then if it is home electrics everything can be bought into it.

I've just had to post on AVForums cuz of the lack of a forum here. Great idea and hopefully we will see it soon.

(OK some of those were slighty out of context but they are all true, give or take a paragraph of critisism )

20-0 !!! if you multiply that by 1000 so that it represents almost all members of the board then that is 20 000 - 0

surely this forum should go ahead now?

seriously though seems to be getting a lot of votes

    please??

yeh sounds like a great idea - I've got a good separates hifi and it would make a great addition to the board.
