    Default Which Jeep...

Ok guys here is the problem, I am hoping to get my first car soon, choosing me first car is not as easy as I thought. I am 6'6 and have long legs, so any small car is jus stupid, as i struggle in the focus I learn in. I have been thinking of a jeep. I have looked into a Suzuki Viatre, my mate has one down the road and its great to drive ( took it round the block ) I have seen them going second hand for under 2k, so its all good, but i have another problem, I am very keep to get a nice sound system in there. ( jus a couple of subs and and amp or 2 ) but the main problem is the boot space is to small for sub woofers to be put anywhere and there is no back shelf to mount anything on.

SO my Q is can anyone recomment a Similar type Jeep to a Suzuki Vaitre? or a Suitable car for a long legged b@st@ard like me self.

    Thanks!

mate, PLEASE don't get a Vitara unless your planning an extreme "lifestyle" change if you know what i mean. they look ugly as f**k too in my opinion. have a quick scout on autotrader for the old 1990 Range Rover as you can pick up a decent 2.5/3.5 for around £2k and you cannot fault them for a bit of class and reliablity - bags of room too but it may be a bit daunting if you've only past recently. I imagine you can pick up Jeep Cherokee's for around that price too, roughly 92-94 K,L and M reg between £1.5k - £2.5k. i really don't think you want to condescend to a Vitara when you've at least those other two beasts in the price range.

Ok scrap that post above, ive dont some searchin on auto trader at these beasts and well they are all good and well, but I want somthing fairly nippy as well, not a tank, they are massssive, so Ill be able to get all my ice in them but I think they are a bit out my league, they are just to big for what I want, I think I am going to settle with a Escort or summit big, The on viatre I drove was a K reg hard top, I found it pretty decent, this one was all black alloys and a bull bar on front, I agree some are ugly... just look at the poss a bill ities :-p.....pic attached

I'd go to the local car supermarket or auctions and try all the models out for size then look for one privately.
If you find one that you like but isn't a good fit then you could approach a metalworker to extend the seat runners , make sure you can still reach the steering wheel though!

Well I *was* thinking that, Jus take out the drivers seat and sit on the back seat...might work:-p as well as distance its a lot to do with the height of the chair to steerig wheel.

Anyway once i pass ma test ill have a ganger about save me squashin in that Food KA lol!

im a couple of inches shorter than you and while i understand about needing the leg room i'd still have a look at a focus partially as thats what ive got lol but also because the 1.8 zetec is cheap insurace and has decent performance and has a height adjustable drivers seat i dont know if the other models in the range as regards the seat

like tbops sed, im 6foot7 nd i drive a focus. the driving position is comfortable, i mean it ent gonna be great but its the roomiest car u r likely to find, particularly for a first car. Get the three door flavour tho cos it has slightly more room for the driver. A second hand LX or CL shudnt be too expensive. Or if u really dont like the focus u could look into the merc A class. I was considering getting a 1.4 base model (the only one i could realistically afford to insure - remember insurance companies dont wanna hear "first time driver" and "mercedes" at the same time) before i got the focus - its a very roomy car for the driver, even if it does look like a minivan.

Come to think of it, the new fiesta is quite roomy for the driver if i remember correctly. Mite be worth considering.

oh and btw, remember to put the seat rite DOWN as well as back on the focus. this nd making sure the steering wheel position is fully up and out will give u maximum room in the focus u say u r struggling in atm.
