Mobo Questions

Still pretty new to this game but can anybody shed some light on the following;

1 Can u put a x8 AGP graphics board(nvidia Gforce 4 4000 128mb) on a mobo (PC Chips 810LMR) which only has a max agp rate of x4?

2 can i put 256mb of pc133 ram on or into a pc chips 825 or a jetway v6dp mobo. Both boards a mark DDR? Will i need to by DDR ram for this.

not sure on AGP - i would have thought it would work but only at 4x , the memory is a definite no , you need DDR memory

The AGP should be backwords compatible, not 100% but pretty sure it's safe to do.

1. I can tell you for fact right now that the GeForce 4 will NOT work in the PC Chips motherboard.

2. If the boards only accept DDR memory, then that is all you can use.
If they accept either DDR or SD-RAM then you can use one or the other (but not both simultaneously)

I run a GeForce 4 440 Pro/660 AGP x2/x4/x8 on my MSI motherboard which only supports AGP x4.

The VGA card may work, but not at full speed. as for the RAM, no chance..it won't even fit in the slot. Sell the RAM and buy DDR. BTW..go for the fastest DDR (PC3200...DDR400)
regardless of the board spec. it will see you well in the future, and just to dispell another myth, you canh mix DDR speeds......this m/c right here has 1x512MB DDr 400 and 2x256 DDR 266. boots up with 1GB no worries

But will only run at 266 and NOT 400. If memory is mixed it will always run at the lower speed.

You obviously don't know what PC Chips motherboards are like then

I never said you couldn't mix DDR-RAM of different speeds, I said you can't mix DDR-RAM & SD-RAM at the same time.
