Half-Life CS Generation CD Key

help appreciated on this one guys....

bought a pre-owned copy of the 4 cd Halflife bundle, on the install guide there are two rows of numbers, the first is 3 lots of 4 and the second is 5 lots of 4 ( I think from memory)
anyway, using the first sequence to register the prog with stream all installed fine, but when I came to run cs on a remote server it kicked me out for not having a valid key?

have I installed the wrong key sequence, and if so, how can I change it over, as there is no obvious option within stream.

Sounds like you key might be being used by someone else.... have you tried more than one server? Might be that it is running security s/w and you might a mod or something that the server didnt like? Did you connect to the server via CS or by GameSpy or All Seeing Eye??

hmm, only tried a couple of servers through stream network, bit strange to find 2 users on different servers have the same key?
was just wondering which key I should have entered, or if maybe I should have entered all the numbers in a sequence?

If it accepted the key you put in then it must be the correct one. If you have 2 keys then it might be that one is a 'generated key' from another source. Try access through GameSpy (which is free) and see if that works.

More and more games are getting much more strict on security so proper liscense keys will be essential to play online.

half lifes cd key verification system was always very good, it doesnt check with the game server, it auths with the WON key check each time, you'll probably find that the person who sold their copy of Half life generation is still using the key. Not a lot u can do about it, maybe try contacting the publisher and telling them your problem, failing that id buy it brand new
