say u bought a ps2 from argos, and had one at home that didnt work, ive heard if u take it back saying the ps2 u bought u basically say i.e. the person you bought it for didnt require it. and put the broke one in the box that they dont check? And just get your money back.

What do you lot reckon, i wouldnt think argos would go to extremes to check this??

i think you used to be able to do this, not sure of the checks done now but take it on a busy saturday you might get away with it.

no they wouldant check when you took it in but they do get you to wright down all your details when you take somthing back not only that you would have to be buying a new 1 and would have to have a broken 1 at home and if the one you bought ****ed up a week later then what? good idea tho

My missis is gonna be the one who takes it back, looks less dodgy,she can just put down any old address, sure there not gonna check.not worried about the new one ****in up, cant see that happening.

with ps2 and other electronics its best to make sure its a woman on the returns desk

if your not worried about the new one then thats cool make sure you do give false shit tho and it would be better to when busy and speak to a woman not being sexist but there less likley to think your trying to **** them and send you misses good idea but whenever i take anything back they allways seem to ask for my address postcode ans somtimes phone number could just be my area they do it but best to be prepaired for all that and make sure the old one looks new incase they have a quick look if it looks and old and shit they will check it out im sure.

I asked my mate who works in Argos about this. Apparentlly they've been told to write the serial number of the PS2 on the receipt so you'd have to swap this insides over if you wanted to take back a broken one. Whether or not they actually do this in every store is beyond me but I know they will check in Tottenham Court Road, Wood Green and Edmonton stores.

As for giving them an address just give them any old one as they won't check, just make sure the postcode matches the street and house number.

Argos used to be great as did asda.
Apparently argos got tough on checking warranty stickers and i know asda ppls have. That said u still get it swapped / refunded etc if u pick the best time and person

I worked at Arg0s for 5 years, through college and Uni, and although I have no idea about the current policies, the policy a few years back was to check that there was something in the box, and do what you wanted, as long as you had a receipt dated within the 16 days.

So as far as I can see, and knowing the intelligence level of the average employee there, you'll be saving yourself quite a bit of money there mate. Good luck to you!

I did this trick, in fact the exact same trick 2 years ago. The customer service chick opened the box to check that everything was there. She also checked the product number of the ps2 against the product number on the box. Luckily they matched up - I'd never thought about that. They're not complete numpties.
