In process of installing a mod I screwed up my motherboard. :whistle So I need to replace it which is the best version? I had 1.5 I would like 1.3 or 1.2 so I could do the pogo pin install on my (x2.3b pro) then upgrade to x3 later on.

if you meen header pins and not pogo pins then yes you can up to x3 ...... just take your time and read the install guides carefully.
you can use any verrsion machine.......if you are buying new you will probley get a v5......the install is much the same (skilll) to install on any model.
