Default Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004 Problem

I'm having a BIG problem with fireworks.

Every time I try and save anything at all, I get an error:

"Could not complete your request. An internal error occured" and it won't save!

This happens whether I open a new file and then save straight away, or if I do some work and then try to save it. It also does it wherever I try to save to the hdd (any folder).
Very pissed off - spent ages making a cool nav bar, and then the ******* did this to me, and I couldn't save it at all, and ended up losing all my work!!!

anyone experienced this before and know of a solution?

It didn't give an error code - just says internal error.
I looked at that solution, but the problem isn't when saving to a server - it does it when saving to my local hdd.
I found that I can do "export" and save as images, but I need to be able to save the actual png file.
