No Hard Drive In Xbox 2

Just read this on xbox scene, dunno about you guys but i think thats a twat

No Hard Drive in Xbox 2 Confirmed

In an interview with Globe, M-Systems President and CEO Dov Moran confirmed what gamers have been speculating for months. Xbox 2 won't have a hard disc. When asked about its technology development agreement with Microsoft Corporation, Mr Moran said:

�It�s a cooperation agreement. The potential isn�t clear, but it�s in the billions of dollars. Microsoft has taken the hard disk out of its Xbox. The only thing left will be a CD; that�s all. At some point, when users want to save their e-mail messages, copy music, or anything like that, the only storage they�ll have is what we give them. It�s worth hundreds of millions to the company, spread over a few years, and we�ll be the main supplier for it; and I hope the sole supplier.

that is f/ucking lame what is the point now we are going to have to buy shitty memery cards that cost a bomb for very little space.

not all memory cards cost a bomb, they may do a nice large one like the one for the sega saturn, that seemed like an endless resourse for saves.

i expected this really, the xbox1 has been a massive loss to microsoft, they have been willing to lose millions of dollars to get the xbox name into everyones home and now theyre makin a new console they actually have to make a profit. the HD is not essential really so theyve given it the chop

Pretty obvious this one really.

The HD in the XBox was MS big mistake, cost them a fortune and its never used.

I imagine they will still have some internal memory some kind of flash memory (very cheap nowadays) lets face it you only need about 500M at most.

yeah i doubt thats the first thing on billys priority list tho m8

theres never gonna be a console so hacker fiendly as the xbox, it was an incredible mistake on gates part but he has done what he intended too and sold alot of consoles

yeah ano, wasnt wot i was thinkin tho, was just thinkin about bootin all the games disc by disc again, best thing i ever did puttin the hard drive in, ill really miss it, but if its gotta go then suppose we gotta live with it

Update from gamespot.com:

When contacted by GameSpot, Xbox group product manager David Hufford said Moran was "talking way over his head." He continued, "Mr. Moran is aimlessly speculating, and we never comment on speculation. We've made no such announcements about future Xbox products and services. And we don't intend to for quite a while. Until we do, we suggest people take guesswork for what it is."
However, if Moran's statements are true, the Xbox Next will likely not be backwards compatible, since it would be almost impossible for it to emulate how some games dump data onto the Xbox's hard drive.
