1996 Ford Escort Keycode radio

Help I need to get the code into my radio the silence is killing me. It's a Keycode in a 1996 Ford Escort. I can't find the radio book but in the car handbook it says the radio code is 0901. I can enter the code but I don't know what to do after that. I've had 7 attempts so far and I'm starting to go crazy Janice

Janice once you have entered the code you press the select key and if the code is correct the radio will come on .If you let me have the numbers from the radio I will check the code for you

The numbers required are on the side of the unit and its a 6 digit number starting with M
