just watched this film and my brain hurts,does anyone have a decent theroy of what it was all about,i think it was time travel related but did he kill himself as to save his girl friend,.......................actually i have no idea :nowords:

I also thought this film was shite. Go www.donniedarko.com and http://donniedarko.tripod.com/faq.html (and try googling it) to read a load of explanations of the film that won't make you feel any better at the time you wasted.

Before any of you come at me saying that I can't appreciate it or don't understand it, I understood (I think) enough of the plot to think that it wasn't really that clever.

well OBVIOUSLY you didnt get it cos it has one of the most clever and intricate plots ever devised for any film in the past 10 years. Donnie Darko is an excellent film, I have seen it about 10 times now.

cos theres always something extra that you notice that you didnt see that last time, and it gets better with repeat viewings, the soundtrack rocks on my new system.

I'm with B3ARKILLA, this is an amazingly dark and twisted re-working of the Jimmy Stuart film, "Harvey." The atmosphere and ambience of the movie is so bleak that you feel cold while watching.
I can kind of understand why some people don't like it, in the same way that I can kind of see how the same people think "Scary Movie," is good.
... Maybe I've gone a bit overboard, I do think this is a great film, but there are moments when the change of pace doesn't feel quite right and a lot of people will see the end coming way before it actually does.
