S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Half Life 2 beater?

I'm guessing no one has heard of this game yet else it would have been posted by now. This game has been in production for ages, and it looks amazing. Many people think it will be better than half life 2.

The game isn't linear like nearly every other FPS, its one massive world (30km supposedly). Its part FPS, part RPG. You gain money and experience, trade weapons and even buy vehicles. Buy a car, you have to worry about fuel. You need sleep and food else you will faint.

The game has a cycle of 90 virtual days and nights with weather effects such as fog, rain and even earthquakes and storms. Even the player details are accurate, get shot in your hand and the player can't aim properly. Wounds even have entry holes and exit holes.

The little things in the game sound great. If you're exposed to minor radiation levels in the city, you can drink vodka to help kill it. Drink too much and you get drunk and vision becomes blurred etc. I love the way you have to sleep, drink, eat to keep alive too.

There's numerous video's released of the game, they're pretty big but well worth the download. The game does look amazing running, the screenshots don't really show how good this game looks as the screens are from early builds of the game.

Yep I've been tracking this game for a while too, looks very good and has some very impressive ideas. Im hoping it turns out to be a v.good game, hopefully a demo will be out soon.

ive kidna wantd a game liek this for ages that like free roaming and lets u do basically wat ya want walk round kill peeps eat sleep drink like a virtual world... seems kinda cool that its based around chernoble *howeva ya spell it*

yeah been following this one for a while it does look the dogs', there was talk of a great co-op mode in the original specs but i hear they've dropped that now

I bet it comes out before HL2 too, think this is due July sometime.

Yes an alpha was leaked a fair while ago, some people said its good, some people said its not. But its from 2002, so the game has been improved drastically since then.

yeah its perfectly playable but its not worth the effort as you got to see the lovely terrains but the character models are horrid in the beta and all the sounds for guns etc are just place-holded by counterstrike sounds... a lot of companies do this because it isnt against copyright until it goes public - lots to be added but the terrain and scenery is unreal even in the leak
