Renault Philips Code not workin

I shoulda known better, but I was washing my car, with the radio on, it ran the battery flat,

it says code now, and when I eneter the code printed on the front page of the "warranty" book, it doesnt work, just says code for a period of time, which gets longer each wrong entry

where do i look to get the numbers needed for some1 to decode my radio?

Also on the first page of warranty book where the code is, it says year: 2000, my car is 1999? ?

well today I went to Renault who were able to give me a code, using my reg no, unfortunately, it was for the radio that was in the car when sold new, and it must have been changed since, i contacted the previous owner and he is in seek of a code from where he bought it new (a renault franchise dealer [charles hurst]) as they might have changed the radio from when they recevied it to selling it to its first owner.

if i cannot get the code from the previous owner, renault sed i could pay them £20+vat for them to use the radio's serial number and renault uk's security thing to generate a code

EDIT AFTER POSTING: Just got phone call back from previous owner, they got a working code

renault were able to tell me thatg the warranty book i have is for a 3dr clio, mine is 5dr, this must be a mistake at charles hurst (the franchise dealer)
