Default Everything or Nothing - strange problem??? HELP!!

Nope, it's not how do I save to my HDD.

My lad's playing a (PAL) copy of this game. However, when he tries to scroll in the menu, the highlight bar scrills back to the default choice -

when the screen asks if he wants to sane the game yes/no and he tries to choose no, his choice skips almost immediatly back to yes. In naming a save if he holds the left button he can scroll between letters (otherwise it skips back to to A - and the has already chosen AAAAAAA).

Lightning reactions allows him to make his selection in about 90% of the times, but occasionally these fail him. Today he managed to overwrite 3 weeks of progress, with the 20 minutes of tears that accompanies such a disaster.

Is this a a problem only with my back-up, or is there a trick to overcome this.

    Pleeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssseeee help

    Ta

managed to solve it with a little advice.

It looks as though there is a controller conflict with the second controller (thrustmaster) when removed, or switched to port 1 the jumping of menus is sorted - it's a shame that the 3 weeks lost saves isn't as esily sorted.
