file man said that if u use a digital splitter on ntl you get a few channels free if you plug one output directly in your tv, does this work on telewest.

k for ppl that cant be ****ed to look how to do this
1) the cable that the TV comes in on is the same as you cable line
2)go to ant tv shop and get a 2 way adapter this will let you add an extra line that can go in to ya TV
3) get some new cable to go in your tv( DO NOT USE YOU CABLE THAT CAME WITH THE MODEM) as the cable you get from a shop will not be as good quality)
4)once you have connected the cable back up you will be able to tune in ya tv to the extra channels
FM
if ya need any more info PM me

if your tv has a standard tuner you'll probably only get channels 1-5,with a hyperband tuner you should get about an extra 6 or so in the clear the rest will be scrambled,which ones vary by regionOriginally Posted by {film_man}

I notice some TV has that, is there an external device that would do the job? If so, any suggestion of where to get it?
Sorry don't know much about cable and stuff.
Cheers!

external device, as in a analogue/digital cable box would do it
I used to run the cable into a pctv rave card in my pc
hmm...I already connected the cable box and room TV using a spilter and coax cable, all I get now is that study NTL purple ad and Channel 1 to 5.
Any suggestion?

your tv might not have the right tuner in capable of recieving the UHF and possibly the higher VHF frequencies, so you are just picking up the channels in the normal VHF range.
My tv can't do it either, but the video could
you have your uhf and vhf mixed up, hxbro. uhf is a higher frequency band then vhf, and uk aerial tv broadcasts in the uhf band, fm radio uses vhf, and some of the cable analogue channels are vhf, those are the ones that may be harder to find on a "normal" tv
oppss
hi guys i tried it with a tv picked up eurosport sky 1 sky news and a bit more, but with a wintv card u pick up shit loads of channels
Just wondering why no else has picked up on the title of this thread, is it NTL or telewest being discussed?
