If your drive is showing bad sectors, and its only a 30Gb drive, I would NEVER trust it again to hold data of ANY importance - I learnt this lesson the hard way and lost about 100 photographs - along with my OS, My Docs etc, but the photos were the biggest loss. You can be sure it will fail, big style, sooner rather than later, when you most need it and least expect it. My advice - copy what you need from it asap, then bin it!!
yeah i agree with Buster, back up your files you want to keep and then bin the hard drive having bad sectors can only lead to even more problems, loss of data etc.

HDD Regenerator seems to scan and fix drives. Never tried it msyelf tho.

u tried the makers web site? like maxtor do maxblast and i would think most manufactures have a utility 4 the job.
There is an utility program kicking about that tries to recover data from the infamous IBM Deskstar (Deathstar) drives.
