12x DVD writers, when?

When do you think 12x DVD writers will appear on the market. Also where can i find reviews of these things online.

It seems that Pioneer is the leader, is this still the case, i often see many people having trouble with updates for these.

I got my CDRW when 12x first came out, a TEAC one. It is still going strong and i must have burnt 1000's of CD's.

Has the DVD writing got to an easy stage now for a (lets be honest) dumby like me? Im talking creating and authoring films, not just simple backup. I need one click steps.

I doubt we'd see many, it'll be 16x in a couple of months similar time to the dual layer burners, might be better to ask in the dvdr forum about it tho.

Dual layer will be 2.4X when they are released.

8x is fast enough - why do u need to burn a dvd that badly any faster then 7 minutes?

It is my backward approach, my 12xCDRW is only ever used at 8x, i figure no point in pushing to its limit, and thats why it has lasted so long.

I did not know Dual layer was out anytime soon, so were are talking DVD9 here.

About time for a google search me thinks.

Its slightly less than a DVD9 - about 8.5GB - launches around June time. - You still burn at 8X for CDR's? wow! wake up and smell the burnproof technologly revolution - burning at 48X and never a coaster, Drive costs around �30.

You can already get them in the US that are capable of burning dual, but you need a firmware upgrade, this will only be released once the blank media has been releaesed.
