wow 1.5mb, thats not bad - but how will that transfer accross into u/l and d/l do we know?
we currently get 120k down and a stupid 30k up - will this change with the upgrade?

upload is staying the same
For the moment, NTL are looking into upgrading the switches at a later date to increase the upstream rate.Originally Posted by hxbro

so if the up is staying the same, presumably the down is going to be faster.....working on ratios, if we are getting roughly half our service again - so from 1mb to 1.5mb does the same ratio come across into download speeds?
i.e. we currently get 120kbs, so will we now get 180kbs?

yep, divide your speed in kbit/s by 8 to get the kbytes/s
so 1500 / 8 = 187.5kbytes/s
for the 600kbit/s service it won't be as big an increase as its only going up 150kbit/s
I had my NTL installed on Tuesday and I spoke to an engineer. He told me that the 600 service had just been updraded to 750 and that the 1000 service was been upgraded in the coming weeks. I got the 750 and was getting bout 90kb downloads (sweet!). I got it for 19.99 a month aswell for twelve months with free install and equipment (new deal from NTL). :thumbs
The engineer can't have been that well informed it seems he forgot to mention the speed increase on the 150k service as well.
im on 600k in cov and have noticed no difference at all
same here, but heard that the speed increase will apply during july and not june ? Also normally they should contact you if there are any changes to your broadband. :nowords:
i also live not far from cov and just switched to NTL and they told me it would be upgraded by the end of July but i defo wouldnt bank on it!
I'm thinking of subscriding to NTL 600k from pipex 512k how did u get it for that price SiE????I got it for 19.99 a month aswell for twelve months with free install and equipment (new deal from NTL).

1st August, so you've still got a while to wait, so be patient.
Manchester have had there speeds increased already
i got a letter this morning saying that upgrades in cov were gonna happen from august onwartds so that could mean it wil be delayed for months again
i was downloading at a 146kbps the other day and my top speed is norm 17.5kbps, so they are defiently testing.
ive noticed a abit of an increse from 120kb/s to 130kb/s but not that much...
